Cancer is a merciless killer, with a record of 10 million deaths every year making it the second leading cause of death in the world. Even the  hasn’t beaten this record yet.

Cancer has been known to exist as far back as the 1500 BC in ancient Egypt after it was discovered on the breast of Papyrus.

Research shows that 70% of people with cancer are over age 50.

Cancer can be found in any part of the body with the most leading causes of death to be breast cancer, lungs cancer, and colorectal cancer.

Many notable people in the society, including entrepreneurs, actors, musicians have all been victims of this vicious killer.

Popular actress, Aishat Abimbola died after going for scheduled chemotherapy, due to the breast cancer, which she was battling with.

She was said to have kicked the bucket when her heart stopped beating due to how badly her body was affected by the treatment.

She died at the age of 46, in Toronto on May 15, 2018.

4. Dora Akunyili

General manager of National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (), Dora Akunyili died in an Indian hospital on 7 June 2014 after a battle with uterine cancer ages at the age of 59.

Co-founder of Computers TERS, Steve Jobs, died from a rare type of pancreatic cancer known as islet-cell neuroendocrine tumour on October 5, 2011, age 56.

Wife of the former Edo State governor, Clara Oshiomhole, died on December 2010 at the Abuja clinic Maitama, after a battle with breast cancer. She was aged 54.

7. Maryam Babaginda

Mrs Maryam Babangida, the wife of former head of state died after battling cancer of the ovaries for many years. She died on December 27, 2009, aged 61.

The “Fire in Soweto” crooner and music genius died aged 61 in Howard University Hospital in Washington DC on May 24, 2008.

Legendary reggae singer and songwriter, Bob Marley, died to rare deadly skin cancer known as melanoma on May 11, 1981 age 31.

10. Walt Disney

The mastermind behind Mickey Mouse and the Disney empire lost his life to lung cancer at the age of 65 on December 15, 1966.
