Sleep Habits That Can Affect Your Health

Sleep is a vital requirement for the well-being of both man and animals. During sleep, the body releases important hormones to help metabolism and generate energy for activities during the day.

According to neuroscientists the less sleep, the shorter the life cycle. Therefore an adult needs to have 7-9 hours / night sleep to be good.
Research has shown that not every time of sleep is good because there are some habits of sleep, that can be harmful to our health.

Ideally, people ought to go to bed earlier and wake up in the early morning hours. This pattern matches our biological tendencies to adapt our sleep pattern with that of the sun.

Although circadian rhythms are inborn, they adjust according to external cues especially the presence or absence of light.

Another consideration is the amount of sleep you need per night.
Too much of sleep is bad and can cause some health challenges like:

  • Cognitive impairment
  • Depression
  • Increased inflammation
  • Increased pain
  • Impaired fertility
  • Higher risk of obesity
  • High risk of diabetes
  • High risk of heart disease
  • Risk of stroke

All these symptoms are also available in people with poor amount of sleep.
