Ayodele Balogun popularly known by the stage name Wizkid has proved once again to be one of Africa’s biggest stars, as his song is mentioned on Obama’s playlist.
The hit track Smile featuring American Grammy winner H.E.R came up at the no 15 spot, among the songs mentioned by the ex USA President as his top summer song for 2020.
Obama went on his Twitter page on Monday to share the selection which was a list featuring 53 songs from a range of genres, including reggae, hip-hop, country, pop, and rock. He wrote
Over the past few months, I’ve spent a lot of time listening to music with my family.
I wanted to share some of my favorites from the summer, including songs from some of the artistes at this week’s @DemConvention. Hope you enjoy it.
Other artists like Nigerian-American rapper, Chika, also featured in the list with her uplifting single, “Crown”.
Beyonce also made the list with “Already” from her new visual album, “Black is King.”
Others in the collection include Rihanna, Bob Marley, OutKast, Nas, J Cole, Nina Simone, and Frank Ocean among others.
